In re the great height restrictions debate: this is what happens when you don’t allow tall buildings in the District.

In addition to demands for building certain numbers of units which can be distributed up or out, there is also demand for buildings that are specifically tall. If they can’t go here, they’ll go to Bethesda. It would be better for sustainability, both directly and indirectly (through budget and tax base issues), for them to go in the District.
